Our goal during the audit is to get a scope of the business during the policy period. Subcontractors are used and we need to get an understanding of what they do, how much they were paid, and if they were insured. Some states consider uninsured subcontractors the same as employees. We look to gather the information and then make a decision based upon state rules or if they have Workers’ Compensation insurance, we will always exclude them from the audit.
